Beans for dessert? This Snickerdoodle Dessert Hummus will have you saying, “Yes, please!” with a smile on your face. I love this recipe for impromptu fall get-togethers because it takes only a few minutes to whip up and uses pantry staples that I always have on hand. Slice up some fresh seasonal fruit and you have a gorgeous celebration-worthy appetizer or dessert tray for all your favorite festivities.
Whether you’re nutritarian or just looking for a healthier vegan snickerdoodle dessert hummus recipe I think you’re really going to dig this!
What is a snickerdoodle?
A snickerdoodle is a cinnamon sugar cookie. Technically it’s a sugar cookie that’s rolled in cinnamon sugar.
Thier interesting name is derived from the German “Schneckennudel” which means cinnamon roll.
I could have simply called this recipe “cinnamon” dessert hummus but that is nowhere near as fun to say as “snickerdoodle”!

What ingredients are in this easy snickerdoodle dessert hummus?
- cooked garbanzo beans (no added salt)
- medjool dates
- unsweetened plant milk (I used almond milk)
- raw cashews or slivered blanched almonds
- cinnamon
- vanilla extract or powder
Which cinnamon is best to use in this recipe?
There are two types of cinnamon:
- Cassia
- Ceylon
Cassia cinnamon is the predominant cinnamon sold in the US.
Dr. Fuhrman has advised that people who eat cinnamon regularly or take it as a supplement should be careful to use the Ceylon variety instead as it does not contain coumarin which can be harmful in high doses.
I’ve used both varieties but because of the amount of recipe development I do I typically use the Cassia variety.
What makes this recipe special?
- healthy
- easy
- crowd-pleasing
Inherently, snickerdoodle dessert hummus is a healthier choice as far as desserts go. It’s full of beans which are one of Dr. Furhman’s top six nutritarian superfoods. Beans help to regulate your insulin response and are high in resistant starch (which means not all of their calories are actually absorbed).
Most of the vegan snickerdoodle dessert hummus recipes online use maple syrup as the sweetener. But we can do better than that! Dates don’t cause insulin spikes like refined sugar and maple syrup. They are a stable, slow-release sweetener because they have plenty of intact fiber.
To me, what makes a recipe “easy” is how long it takes to make it. This snickerdoodle dessert hummus recipe fits the bill because there is no pre-soaking the nuts or cooking of any kind. That means I can whip it up quickly and have dessert on the table for the family in minutes!
Lastly, this recipe is loved by my non-nutritarian family and friends. In general, I find that standard American diet eaters respond most enthusiastically to nutritarian desserts, so this is the perfect recipe to bring with you to a party or get-together.

How do you make this Snickerdoodle Dessert Hummus recipe?
All you need is a high-speed blender to make this deliciousness happen.
Simply combine the six ingredients to your blender bowl and blend on high for 30 to 60 seconds.
How do I store this hummus?
This Snickerdoodle Dessert Hummus has a great shelf life in your fridge.
It lasts for 10 to 12 days when stored in a glass Mason jar or food storage container with snaplock lid. To be honest I’ve gotten up to 14 days with this hummus but I’d recommend taking a look at my Fridge Love book when storing recipes for longer than 12 days.

Which fruits taste the best with Snickerdoodle Dessert Hummus?
- apples
- figs
- peaches
- berries
You can’t go wrong with crispy apple slices!
This dip tastes amazing with either tart or sweet apple varieties. Try Granny Smith, Cosmic Crisp, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp or Fuji apples. I even had the chance to try them with the red-fleshed Arlie apples for this recipe shoot.

How much hummus can I have on the nutritarian plan?
If you’re following the Aggressive Weight Loss Plan stick to the recommended 1/4 cup serving along with some fresh fruit for dipping.
When following the strict plan I recommend eating all your raw vegetables (large salads) for the day first before enjoying a dessert.

Nut and seed free?
I am allergic to all seeds and nuts (no sunflower seeds and even sesame even coconut). Any recommendations to adjust this?
Hi Beth,
I haven’t worked with any substitutions for this recipe yet. Off the top of my head, if you’re up for a bit of experimentation I’d say you could omit the nuts altogether. In that case I would limit the amount of plant milk you add. Start with 1/4 cup and add more if needed.
Let me know if you give it a try and I’ll do some work with it on my end for substitutions.

Thanks for sharing this delightful recipe! It’s great to see a healthier twist on a classic dessert flavor. Quick question—do you think using different types of plant milk affects the texture or taste significantly? Also, how practical do you think it is to stick with Ceylon cinnamon in terms of cost? In times where prices are rising, finding affordable ingredients for such recipes is something I’m curious about.
Additionally, it’s impressive how this dessert caters to both nutritarian and regular taste buds at gatherings. Cheers!
Hi Thomas,
Feel free to use any unsweetened plant milk you have on hand.
Ceylon cinnamon is on the pricey side. I used regular cinnamon when making this recipe. It’s up to you on which you’d like to use–depends on how often you’re going to have this in rotation.

This looks delicious – I need to make this 🙂 Would you suggest using a blender or food processor? It could be smoother in a blender, but it can be so hard to keep the blender going with little liquid, even with the tamper…
Hi Franziska,
I used a high-speed blender. My blender base is on the smaller side (I have a Vitamix 5200) which helps when you have smaller quantities. I did have to use the tamper a bit to begin but once it got going it wasn’t a problem. You could definitely try it in the food processor.
If you give it a whirl 😉 I’d love to know how it works out.
