I’m so happy to finally post these beautiful diy paper birch trees that can easily be crafted (by momma and child) to adorn your holiday mantel! I started these trees last Christmas (when my youngest was 5 months old and I was trying to exclusively breastfeed) and I only got to finish two of them! Needless to say, finishing these beautiful trees soon shot to the top of my mental list: What to Craft When I am No Longer a Walking Boob!
I don’t know about you, but this Christmas I am embracing the natural look (check out my Pinterest board: Naturally Christmas), you know, everything burlap and twine and wine corks and evergreen (and brown paper packages tied up with string)! These paper birch trees go right along with that natural and simple holiday vibe! And I plan to craft a simple white-frosted village to sprout up in my forest later this month! As you can see I’ve already acquired a church (that I scored for less than $3 at JoAnns last year) that I plan to white-wash and frost with glitter–so make sure you stay tuned!
The inspiration for these trees came from the 2012 Pottery Barn Kids holiday catalog, you can still see them here with the (ridiculously-over-priced-but-absolutely-beautiful Danbury dollhouse)! They weren’t sold by Pottery Barn they were just crafted (by some brilliant creative director or stylist) to go along with the doll house. The minute I saw them I knew I wanted them!! I figured out that all you need are a few easy-to-find supplies and a printer and you’re in business! The best thing is that you can store your entire forest stacked inside each other by using these hollow paper mache “doll” cones instead of the Styrofoam tree-form version!
These trees are also super-versatile, useing them waaaaay past Christmas! Just adorn with red heart stickers for Valentine’s Day and pretty birds, flowers and butterflies for spring and Easter–the possibilities are endless! Honestly, they are cute enough to keep up all year!

I am crazy about birch trees and we have a few in our front yard. I wonder if these could be made with real birch bark? Aiden is in to everything these days so we might not do a real tree this year, these may be the solution!
